Without a doubt, this will be one of the slowest weekends of the year at the box office. That’s good news for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” which should easily hold on to first place for the third week in a row.
The reason for this is simple: “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” faces almost zero competition this weekend. The closest thing there is to a nationwide release this week is 20th Century Fox horror movie “The Pyramid,” which is only playing at 589 theaters.
Even if Mockingjay – Part 1 sees a hefty drop in business, it’s still gonna run away with the top spot with around $30-$40 million.
In other words, this might be a good weekend to binge watch something on Netflix or go Christmas shopping.
