I attended m first comic book convention in March 1993 for my 15th birthday. My fellow TNU member, Laneit, was there too, and our jaws hit the floor when we walked into the con. Never before had we seen so many comics and bootlegs under one roof.
I can’t confirm nor deny it, but I may have cried a little that day.
Over the last 22 years I’ve been to a ton of comic book shows in multiple states. Some shows have been the small local type, while the biggest show I’ve been to has to be New York Comic Con in 2012. This year, I plan to hit as many shows as I possible can, starting this weekend with the second annual SC Comic Con. As for the rest of the year, here is my 2015 convention schedule:
March 21-22: SC Comic Con
April 18: Greenville Comic and Card Show
April 19: Atlanta Comic Convention
May 3: Charlotte Comicon (Spring show)
May 30: Hickory comic con
June 19-21: Heroes Con
August 9: Charlotte Comicon (Summer show)
September 13: Florence Comic-Con
October 24: ACE Ashville Comic Expo
December 6: Charlotte Comicon (Winter show)
That’s my tentative plan for the rest of the year. There was however, another show I was debating on attending in late May. Up until a week ago, Wizard World was set to hold an even in my home city. Then last Saturday… POOF! The con was cancelled.
On its website, Wizard World claims it has something to do with the venue not being available for three days. I think that’s a lot of monkey poop.
If they were so concerned with the venue availability, then why book the damn place to begin with? They sold tickets, announced slew of guests, and two months before they show they called it quits? I don’t know, sounds a bit shady to me. Good thing I hadn’t bought any tickets for that show.
Anywho, don’t expect to hear much from me over the next couple of days as I’ll be buried in the dollar bins and meeting some creators and cosplayers. Try to behave while I’m gone.
