It is more probable than not, that “Avengers: Age of Ultron” will retain the number one spot at the box office this weekend. And sure, Age of Ultron may have opened below the record-breaking numbers of the first Avengers, but it still scored a $191 million opening weekend. Not to mention, worldwide the movie’s brought in well over $686 million.
So basically what I’m saying is, it would take a historic drop for anyone to overtake the Avengers sequel this week. And I’m sorry, but its going to take more than Reese Witherspoon teaming up with Sofia Vergara and her assets to dethrone Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
To be fair though, the Reese Witherspoon-Sofia Vergara road-comedy “Hot Pursuit” should do solid numbers this weekend. The two ladies are popular with audiences, and this is Mother’s Day weekend, so an opening weekend between $20-$25 million is not out of the question for “Hot Pursuit.”
