If you’re an NFL fan, then you know this Sunday the New England Patriots battle the M*A*S*H unit formerly known as the Dallas Cowboys.
This was supposed to be one of the marquee matchups this season. Its even airing during the late window on CBS. But with all the good players on the Dallas side out with injury, this is gonna be a cake walk for the Patriots.
Regardless of who is or isn’t playing, this game has me torn. I’ve been a Cowboys fan most of my life, but I lived in Boston for twenty years and I will always consider that home. Not to mention, I have three Patriot players on my fantasy team. I haven’t decided who I’m rooting for this weekend, I guess it will be a game time decision.
This Sunday’s game is also bitter-sweet because the last time these two teams played in the Dallas area you friendly neighborhood Nerds Uncanny were there.
Tha pic above is from October 14, 2007 and it was taken outside the old Texas Stadium. I’m the good looking one wearing a Cowboys jersey. The one with the beard that looks like he just got out of prison is Laneit, and the jolly giant in the back is Furiated. The other guy is Furiated’s friend whose name escapes me at the moment, so let’s call him Chuck.
That was one of the best weekends of my life as I got to see my Cowboys in action in Texas and against the mighty 2007 Patriots. Plus, the day before the game we got a tour of the stadium and we even got to play ball on the field. That night we had a private autograph signing with Jason Witten and Nick Folk.
That weekend I also spent way too much money at the pro shops, and we got to see AT&T Stadium being built. Then we had lunch at the largest Hooters in Texas. Dunno if that’s a fact or not, but that’s what our tour guy called it.
As I said, it was a great weekend, and sure my boys lost, but that was the same day I was introduced to Texas bbq, so it was all good.
