Hello all! So, this post needed to be broken up into two parts, there are nine podcasts I listen to from across the pond.
It all started with the God is a Geek podcast! I’ve listened to this podcast since January of 2015 (ish). It’s a Video Game based podcast, when I started listening Colm Ahern had just taken over the reigns from Adam Cook (I’ve been “friends” with Adam since 2011 sometime via Twitter). Colm left the hosting duties after a while (that was a very sad episode). Dan Naylor then took over and ran the show for a while…then he too left. With the departure of Nailz, Colm returned! He was in charge for a time before Dan Murphy took over. Dan has been at the helm for a while now and he’s doing an awesome job! Other members of the God is a Geek team are often on the show: Lee Garbutt, Chris White, Mike Stubbsy and Greg Hill.
The current configuration is Dan, Mike and Greg on the podcast. Adam, Colm and Lee have been killing it with videos of late on their YouTube channel, seriously “Score Attack” is one of my favorite things on YouTube.
You should check out the website as well, you’ll find out they’re more than just a pretty face or a sweet voice! If you’re in the giving mood you can donate to their Patreon and help them make more awesome content!

Next up is Geek of Thrones, God is a Geek’s Game of Thrones podcast hosted by Dan Murphy and Chris White. Each week Dan and Chris recap the week’s episode of Game of Thrones. They just started with this season so there aren’t that many episodes to catch up on! They deep dive into fan theories (Dan is a madman!) and their own speculation. It’s a great companion to the show.
The Football Huddle is a podcast that follows The Premier League, something I know VERY little (like nothing) about. That’s ok cause Colm Ahern and the gang are there for people like me, they break down the events of the week with some colorful analysis. I started listening to the podcast at the beginning of this season, which has since ended. If you’re looking to make a little pocket change the “Getting Bling” section is for you! They make a one Euro bet on some sort of football accumulator (final scores, who scores first, etc), just be careful of Dan Murphy’s crazy bets! He came SO CLOSE one week, it was heartbreaking really. They are currently covering Euro 2016.
Last (for this post) but not least we have We’re Not Wizards! Rich and Colin discuss tabletop games. I know Rich from his time at God is a Geek (see…SEE…it all comes full circle!). I’ve heard about some great games that I need to check out from them. I REALLY want to give Dead of Winter a try. If you’re looking for upcoming games they have a segment where they take a look at Kickstarter and mention some games that may be worth your while.
The podcast is in its infancy, so now is the perfect time to get into it!
Ok, thanks for checking out my thoughts on a few podcasts from Across the Pond, the remaining four I’ll discuss later!
