The 2016 edition of San Diego Comic-Con is rapidly approaching, and it looks like the big two comic companies are coming back to the big show.
Well, the truth is the comic side of things never left San Diego, but the film division hasn’t shown up in full force for a couple of years. DC showed up last year, but their Batman V Superman panel was part of the larger Warner Bros. event at the show. But this is 2016, and things seem to be turning around for this years Con.
It’s being reported that Warner Bros and DC’s upcoming “Justice League” film will be at San Diego Comic-Con. If the reports are true, the film joins a crowded slate already includes “Suicide Squad” and “Guardians of The Galaxy 2,” with “Wonder Woman” and “Doctor Strange” also expected to make some sort of appearances.
No idea yet what the Justice League panel would be about. Its probably too early to show any footage, and you’d think the film would save a full cast appearance for next year’s SDCC. Plus with all the behind-the-scenes shakeups by Warner Bros. after the poor reception of Dawn of Justice, I can’t imagine the studio really wants to answer questions at the moment. And I seriously doubt Zack Snyder will pop in for a visit, because tight now he’s as popular as El Guapo was.
Look Warner Bros, I don’t expect too much from you, I’ve learned not to over the years. Just give me a good “Suicide Squad” panel and a “Wonder Woman” trailer and I will be a happy nerd.
“Suicide Squad” opens in U.S. theaters on August 5, followed by “Wonder Woman” on June 2, 2017; and “Justice League” on November 17, 2017.
