A Brief History:
Some of my favorite books to read are biographies. And I don’t mind reading about people I don’t know much about. After all, that’s why I pick up someone’s biography in the first place.
You know that old saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover”? Well, you shouldn’t judge Lisa Ann either. There is no denying, this is one tough lady. She came from humble beginnings, became the biggest name in adult entertainment, and now runs several businesses.
That doesn’t mean any of it was easy. Lisa Ann put up with a ton of a-holes both in business and in her personal life before she got to where she is today. And in this book, she doesn’t hold back.
There’s plenty of stories about how the porn business works, but what I liked best were the more personal stories about her. Where she grew up, how she started in the business, and the toll her career took on her at times. But there’s also the good stuff, how Lisa became a mentor to new talent, and how her business savy has made her retirement even sweeter.
This book is probably not for everyone, but that’s probably not a surprise. But it is an excellent read that’s funny, touching, and even heartbreaking. Don’t judge Lisa Ann for what she did, read the book, and I promise your eyes will be opened.
