As I wonder the interwebs in a never-ending search of more podcasts to listen to, I stumbled upon a show about The Fantastic Four called “The Fantasticast.”
If you have ever been a fan of Marvel’s first family, then you need to listen to this podcast. Each week, hosts Stephen Lacey and Andrew Leyland are your guides to The Fantastic Four.
Starting at the very beginning of the Marvel Age of Comics, Lacey and Leyland cover every issue of The Fantastic Four series, every spinoff title (Strange Tales, Marvel Two-In-One, and more), and every guest appearance and every cameo the Fantastic Four member have made, and they discuss it all in order of publication.
Damn, that’s a lot of work.
Andrew Leyland I’m familiar with from his other podcasts like “Hey Kids, Comics!” over at Two True Freaks, and of course “The Overlooked Dark Knight” over at the Fortress of Baileytude. Before “The Fantasticast,” I wasn’t too familiar with Stephen Lacey. However, he’s won me over with this show, and he has great chemistry with Andrew Leyland.
Stephen Lacey and Andrew Leyland make every episode of “The Fantasticast” a lot of fun to listen to. Each episode is loaded with information, fun moments, and often, some great music. Although I’m fairly new to “The Fantasticast,” I’m enjoying learning about comics and characters I didn’t know about, and reminiscing about some of the Fantastic Four comics I have read over the years.
Over the last eight months or so, I’ve been making my way through the “The Fantasticast” catalog. But with 269 episodes currently available, it’s gonna take me a long time to catch up. I Can’t wait!
