I’m referring to this as The TNU Collection due to the content of the podcasts…music, movies, books and comic books!
Let’s start with Xplain the X-Men. I first heard about this podcast on Twitter in the same tweet someone mentioned their love of This is Rad and Xplain the X-Men…
…as you may recall, This is Rad is one of my favorite podcasts, so I needed to check this out post haste! I’m glad I did, it’s a deep dive into the lore of the X-Men. Jay Rachel Edidin and Miles Stokes start at the beginning and go through the history of the X titles. I have to admit, binging this podcast is a great way to listen to it. Once you get caught up you can hardly wait a week to hear what they’re going to cover next. Also, listening to Xplain the X-Men encouraged me to sign up for Marvel Unlimited again so I could read some of the stories for myself.

FEaB (Four Eyes and Beard) consists of Matt Mira (you may know him from The Nerdist Podcast) and Scott Mosier (you may know of him from his work with Kevin Smith) getting to know one another and deciding if they want to be friends (spoiler alert, they do). They talk about anything they feel like, cooking, eating, books, movies and the like. Their FEaB Reads section is a great bit where they recommend books that they’ve read and think the listeners would enjoy. The one “downside” to this podcast is since they’re both busy, there aren’t new episodes often, the upside, it’s easy to catch up!
How Did This Get Made (HDTGM) is a hysterical look at bad movies, they’ve covered Crank, the Twilight movies, the Fast & Furious franchise, The Room, Tiptoes and many more. Paul Scheer, Jason Mantzoukis and June Diane Raphael enjoy bad movies (most of the time) but even they can’t figure out how some of these movies (Gooby) got made. There are about 150 episodes, like I said, they like bad movies!
On the Final Level Podcast Ice-T, Mick Benzo and a guest will discuss News, Movies, Music, TV, Video Games…you know, life. Ice drops some Daily Game, Mick will use made up words that get added to the Mictionary. One of my favorite sections is the “I’m not a Hater but I Hate Sh*t” where they’ll talk about something that drives them up a wall, typically I can relate. Some people forget who Ice-T is, aside from “just” the actor on Law & Order SVU he’s an OG rap artist, if you’re easily offended, this podcast may not be for you. If you think you can handle it, welcome the the FLTG (Final Level Twitter Gang).

I heard about Behind the Barricade from my good friend Rich (you know, he recommended about half of the U.K. Podcasts I listen to). John O’Connor and Daniel Touw are two musicians from New Jersey that interview musicians, promoters and venue owners to give people a behind the scenes (or barricade if you will) look at what goes into putting on a concert. (I wrote most of this before reading the description on iTunes, it looks like I copied it, but I assure you I didn’t. I link to it anyway, just thought I’d point it out.)
