As I browsed the interwebs for more podcasts to listen to, I’ve noticed there are a ton of podcasts bout Batman. There are probably hundreds, or perhaps even thousands of them on a variety of Batman subjects and in all sorts of languages.
But only two Batman podcasts get my undivided attention: Film & Water Network’s Batman: Knightcast (which I wrote about a few months ago), and now, the Fortress of Baileytude’s The Overlooked Dark Knight.
The Overlooked Dark Knight is a twice monthly podcast hosted by Andrew Leyland and Michael Bailey. According to their website, their show is a non-index index of the Dark Knight where the hosts look at a slew of Batman comics that for a number of reasons, don’t get the credit they deserve.
Some episodes feature Bronze Age issues, while other episodes deal with stuff from the 1980’s. Speaking on which, two of my favorite episodes so far were all about the 1980 mini-series almost forgotten, The Untold Legend of the Batman. But every episode has been fantastic so far.
Hearing two Batman fans talk comics is always fun, but what I enjoy best about The Overlooked Dark Knight is the chemistry between Andrew Leyland and Michael Bailey. You can tell these two are buddies, and get along in real life. I don’t know too much about Andrew Leyland, but I do listen to him on another Fantastic podcast I’ll be writing about soon.
I’m a little more familiar with Michael Bailey from his work on the Superman Homepage over the years. Bailey really won me over however, when I discovered he’s a fan of the film “Thirteen Days.” Anyways, some of their personal stories are priceless. But I don’t want to spoil anything, so go listen to the show.
The Overlooked Dark Knight is fairly new podcast. As of this writing, there are only eight episodes are available. You can binge listen to them right now and be caught up by the time the new episode hits in mid September. So don’t miss out on the amazing world of The Overlooked Dark Knight!
